Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich Powered Pre-Paid HTC One V Lands on Virgin Mobile

The HTC One V was recently released as a pre-paid smartphone through Virgin Mobile and is priced at $199.

The company had previously announced its intentions to launch the One V in the U.S. when the device was unveiled earlier this year. Virgin Mobile is one of the first carriers to actually make this happen.

The carrier's price for the HTC One V makes it one of the cheapest deals for customers to get their hands on a device that comes with Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich pre-installed.

However, the HTC One V is the least impressive device launched on the company's One series in terms of power.

Specifications on the One V include a 1GHz processor, Android 4.0 (with Sense 4.0), a 3.7-inch WVGA display, 512MB of RAM, and 4GB of internal memory. It also comes with Beats Audio and a 5-megapixel rear shooter.

Customers looking for a smartphone with a little more bite can take advantage of the pre-paid iPhone that Virgin Mobile will release on Friday.

The carrier will offer the device off-contract for $550 and $650 depending on the amount of internal memory.

Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich has barely gotten off the ground and Google is readying the launch of Android 4.1, Jelly Bean.

The company unveiled the upgrade to the 4.0 software during its Google I/O keynote this week.

Google also displayed a statue representing the new software in front of Building 44 at Googleplex one day before Jelly Bean was unveiled.

The HTC One series should be one of the first lines of smartphones to receive the Android 4.1, Jelly Bean update.

Google has already announced that it will launch Jelly Bean for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S and Motorola XOOM Wi-Fi next month.
