Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update Rolls Out for Xperia T2 Ultra

Sony started rolling out the Android 4.4.2 update for the Xperia T2 Ultra and T2 Ultra Dual earlier this week.

It brings with it most of the latest KitKat features and enhancements along with an updated camera app with tweaks to improve the overall experience with the point and shooter. It also has an email app, stability improvements and better battery life.

One major feature added to the Ultra devices and not listed in the changelog is the ability to move apps to and from their SD card. The option can be found under settings>apps. Users can select apps to be moved over to their SD card and can also browse a list of apps that are currently stored on the external memory. This is a great feature for handsets that do not come with a lot of internal memory as moving apps to a large SD card will provide users with more space.

The update will change the software version of the Xperia T2 Ultra handset to 19.1.A.0.473 and the Ultra Dual to 19.1.C.0.116.

Various companies have been pushing out newer software to many of their older devices as the Android 4.4.2 KitKat was made available to Galaxy S3 on AT&T earlier this month.

It includes several Samsung specific changes that affect Touchwiz's look and feel. There is also pre-loaded Beats Music with three months of free service that come with it. The update is scheduled to roll out in stages so not all Galaxy S3 users on the carrier will get it at once. Users can check for it in the Settings menu and can view the changelog here.

Many of these devices will not be receiving the Android L update when it rolls out later this year due to lesser specs.
