This version of the update brings a few more changes than the original version. Some of which could be considered bloatware. The software version is labeled 21.11.21 and users should pay close attention to their notification bar for its release.

The Android 4.4.4 update is now available for the HTC One M8 and M7 Google Play Edition. It brings security patches, bug fixes and some UI changes.

The Android 4.4.4 release schedule for the carrier versions of the HTC One M8 and M7 leaked shortly before the software was released. Other devices such as the HTC One M8 dual-sim version, HTC One Mini 2 and the HTC One E8 will also be receiving Android 4.4.4 very soon.

Most of these smartphones are getting the new software in preparation for the next-gen Android "L". Many of the more higher-end models will continue to update while the ones with lesser specs will be left with older versions.

The preview version of L is already available for the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 and has been ported to other devices by XDA Developers. It will feature a complete overhaul of the mobile system.
