Android 4.4 KitKat Release Date Up in the Air? Google Disappoints at Oct. 24 Event

The Android 4.4 KitKat release date is still up in the air as Google disappointed fans at its media event yesterday when it did not mention the new software at all.

The event took place in New York and various publications such as Android Authority believed that this would be the place where the company would introduce both the Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 KitKat.

However, Google ended up discussing books, games and music instead. Google sent out a series of tweets revealing what was happening at the event, and none of them featured the smartphone or the software.

The Android 4.4 KitKat features will bring users an improved experience with TVs.

The next version of Android will be more suitable for running on large screen device such as TVs, according to a report from Korean IT portal ETNews. The site received this information from industry inside sources.

The interface between smart TVs and mobile devices will be enhanced along with the app development environment for TV.

The Nexus 5 release date appeared to be pushed forward when pre-order options for the device became available on eBay this week.

Several eBay sellers starting offering the device for pre-order for as much as $700. Those looking to purchase these reserves should do so with caution as some of them could end up being scams.

Previous Nexus 5 rumors and leaks have revealed the existence of a white version.

This same model surfaced once again over the weekend in a new render that could be used by the press in the future.

The picture of the device donning the non-color was posted by C Technology.
