Android 4.4, KitKat Update Screenshots Hit the Web

Screenshots allegedly taken from the Android 4.4, KitKat update surfaced on the web earlier today.

The pictures were posted by the site Gadget Helpline and show a device running the software as its old internal name, Key Lime Pie.

The About Phone section screen in the pictures shows that the device, which happens to be a Nexus 4, is running Key Lime Pie version KRS65B. The Hammerhead codename that has been seen in Nexus 5-related leaks also makes an appearance there.

Changes made to Android can be seen in other photos including the notifications icons which will now be white instead of blue. The dialer app has also been changed as blacks are less prominent and a nice air of bright white has been added to lighten things up.

The software operates faster and animations have become smoother, according to the publication.

In terms of features, a new Settings menu has been added that includes a printing option. Payments and Wireless display are now included in the menu along with a Manage Mobile plan.

Printing is also available when browsing through Gallery images and in other apps such as QuickOffice. Users will have the ability to save to PDF files with their pictures and documents. They will be able to customize the print by selecting appropriate paper size, orientation, color options and page numbers to print.

QuickOffice could sync with Drive, and Drive and Keep apps are available in Android 4.4.

The Gallery app now has new photo editing apps such as Tilt-Shift, Center Focus, Negative and Posterize. There is also an "adjustable quality slider" that could be used when exporting final image versions.

Android 4.4, KitKat will be available later this year. To get a look at all the new screenshots click here.
