Sundar Pichai, head of Google's Android, meanwhile proclaimed the OS to be "one of the biggest upgrades to Android yet."

As what Tech Radar has seen it, it has a "radical new design, with 5000 new APIs that went beyond the mobile form factor."

"Android 5.0 will be contextually aware of its surroundings, plus voice is going to me a major input source," the tech site said in their report.

Several tech review sites also pointed out how Lollipop delivers a "much brighter, fuller colors" and a "more consistent look" than what the previous Android has.

The menu bars are now redesigned to appear more solid, the icons more stylish and flat, and the user interface are now "floating and sliding over the top of each other" which adds more depth effect.

"Every bit of the interface looks different, including the background which now changes color depending on the time of day in some apps, and some slick new sliding animations which add motion to many of Android's responses," the Guardian went on to describe.

As for battery life, Lollipop has underlying software named "Art" that promises a faster and lighter use of energy resource.

There is also the built-in "battery saver" mode that helps the device last longer by reducing CPU performance, disabling use of data in the background, turning down lights or setting the whole phone in black and white.

Putting features aside, it has been reported that handlers of Nexus 4, 5, 7, and 10 will get hold of the much-improved OS "in the coming weeks."

The Taiwanese tech-giant HTC has been called for the update and released a statement regarding the releases.

"We will begin rolling out updates to the HTC One (M8) and HTC One (M7) in regions worldwide within 90 days of receiving final software from Google, followed shortly thereafter by other One family members and select devices," they said.

Motorola also confirmed the arriving updates which will hit first on their Moto X. OnePlus, for their OnePlus One, will get the OS reiteration within three months after Google release its final build.
