Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update Leak Suggests Samsung Flagships Getting It Soon
The newest Android OS has yet to reach other smartphones outside of its line of Nexus devices, including those manufactured by Samsung. While reports have said that Samsung is rolling out the update to its flagship devices by the end of 2015 or early 2016, one report featured screenshots shared by a Galaxy Note 5 owner who accidentally got an early update on his device. According to a Tech Times report, the owner of the device shared screenshots of his Note 5 running Android. 6.0 via XDA.
The screenshots featured the new user interface of TouchWiz. In terms of the color palette of the overlay, the accents are still green but the color that is dominating, according to the owner, is white. The menus are also said to feature new animations that reflect a touch of Material Design, particularly the device's notification panel.
As for the quick settings menu, its Edit button changed while the integrated S-finder and the Quick connect buttons are no longer there.

The post also indicated that Samsung changed the icons on the lockscreen with icons that are in full color rather than see-through icons. A "Swipe screen to unlock" text appears on screen, rather than the usual padlock. The device's clock icon is also found centered on top.
In terms of the device's performance, the new OS is said to have improved the performance of the Note 5. Based on benchmarking figures shared by the owner, "the device is now more responsive, executing smoother transitions compared with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop."
According to the owner, there are some features of the new OS that are not yet available on his Note 5. This meant that the update he received is not yet finished and many improvements still need to be made.
As earlier reported, the Android 6.0 Marshmallow will feature a granular app permission system, changes in the way some apps appear like the Calendar, Clock, File Manager and Music, as well as improved RAM visualization.
