Android 7.0 Nougat News 2017: Wi-Fi Certified Galaxy S6 Edge+ With New OS Onboard Spotted Online, Wider Rollout May Follow Shortly

Previously released update roadmap hints that Galaxy S6 Edge+ could receive the Android 7.0 Nougat update in the middle of March

Now that the Android 7.0 Nougat operating system update has been released for numerous Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge devices, the attention now turns to when the different devices in the Galaxy S6 family may receive this too, and a new clue recently discovered online is hinting that the rollout may be happening sooner rather than later.

In a recent report, Sam Mobile shared an image showing that a Galaxy S6 Edge+ unit with the Nougat OS onboard just received Wi-Fi certification.

This is an important discovery mainly because it hints that Samsung may already be trying out Nougat on this particular smartphone, and if that's the case, then it may not take that much longer before the technology giant gives the go ahead for a wider rollout.

This development also seems to suggest that the Nougat update roadmap previously issued by Samsung Turkey may also be pretty spot on in terms of providing dates for when different Galaxy devices may receive the new OS.

For those who may have missed it, an image of the roadmap was included in a separate report from Sam Mobile, and in it, people can see that the Galaxy S6 Edge+ is apparently set to receive the new OS during the second week of March.

The roadmap also indicates that the Android 7.0 Nougat update should have been released for Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge near the end of February, though it's unclear if that has indeed happened already.

Whenever the Nougat update is released for the S6 devices, users can apparently expect to gain access to many of the same features added to the S7 and the S7 Edge, though there are some notable differences.

As noted in an earlier report from Android Authority, the leaked Nougat update manual for the Galaxy S6 hints that some camera and video features released for the S7 devices may not be made available for these older smartphones.

More news about when the Android 7.0 Nougat update may be released for the Galaxy S6 devices should be made available soon.
