Android 7.0 Nougat Update: HTC 10 Lifestyle Starts Receiving Update; Requires 1.15 GB of Space to Download

Following the unlocked HTC One A9, HTC announced that they will be rolling out the anticipated Android Nougat 7.0 update to HTC 10 Lifestyle. In Europe, users of HTC 10 and HTC One M9 have started updating their devices with the latest operating system (OS).

HTC 10 Lifestyle users will soon get their own Android 7.0 Nougat. This has already by confirmed by HTC EMEA product and service director, Graham Wheeler. He took it to Twitter to announce the exciting news.

It was in November last year when HTC started dispensing the Android 7.0 Nougat update to the unlocked HTC 10 units, but only in selected locations. The unlocked HTC One M9 units received the update a month later, but was also limited to some locations.

HTC 10 owners would need to reserve 1.17 GB of free space in their disk storage while those who use HTC 10 Lifestyle will need 1.15 GB of space to start receiving the update over-the-air (OTA). HTC One M9 owners apparently had to free 1.27 GB of space for Android 7.0 Nougat.

Android users can check if their device is ready to receive the update by checking out the "Download update manually" found in the "About Device" option of their device's Settings.

Sony and Samsung had been about to release the update to their respective devices, but had put it on hold. Sony announced last week that their Xperia devices will start receiving the Nougat 7.0 update, but the company canceled the deployment several days ago. The company explained that their engineers are "still working on the inconsistencies in Nougat for Z5, Z3+ and Z4 Tablet."

Samsung also pulled out the release of Android 7.0 Nougat for Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge after reportedly discovering several issues on performance.

There is no news of when both companies will commence their OS update rollout.
