Angelina Jolie is the latest target of a rant by comedian Chelsea Handler, even as she visits with Colombians taking refuge in neighboring Ecuador.
Handler, who is friends with Jennifer Aniston, has made no secret about disliking Jolie. In an interview with More magazine, Handler said that she "doesn't strike me as someone I would have a close friendship with. You just know as a woman, when you see another woman, if that's a woman you can trust," Handler said.
It is not the first time Handler has spoken out about her feelings toward Jolie, which have never been favorable. In 2010, she let loose with an expletive-laced rant during a stand-up comedy performance in New Jersey.
"She's a home wrecker, she is," Handler stated at the time.
But Jolie is holding her head high and is busy visiting Colombians displaced by fighting in their home country. Jolie, who is part of the special envoy of High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres, is currently in Ecuador on a mission.
It is not her first work with the United Nations, as she has been a goodwill ambassador since 2001.
"She is expected to focus on large-scale crises resulting in the mass displacement of people, to undertake advocacy and represent UNHCR and Mr. Guterres at the diplomatic level, engaging with relevant interlocutors on global displacement issues," UNHCR spokesman Adrian Edwards said in a statement.
Her visit comes after a vacation to the Galapagos Islands with fiancée Brad Pitt and their six children. Jolie has been a tireless crusader for human rights, especially in developing countries. She has adopted several children, including son Maddox from Cambodia, daughter Zahara from Ethiopia, and son Pax from Vietnam.
Jolie was honored last year with a gold pin in recognition of her 10-year service as UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador. In 2002, she received the inaugural Humanitarian Award by the Church World Service's Immigration and Refugee Program.
