Memories take center stage in "Angels Sing," urging families to give the greatest gift they could ever offer- time, and memories to always remember and share.

Pipkin affirms that, even in families that cover great distances, Christmastime is a unique opportunity for togetherness in the film.

"The story is taken from several memories having to do with my family that stuck with me, and some were from imagination and inspiration from other ideas, but in this mobile time it seems like families are very much more geographically separated than ever before with grandparents aunts and uncles living far away from each other," the author told CP.

"Christmas is the one time of year families see each other," Pipkin continued. "It is also time to think about who used to be around at Christmas and who isn't, time to think about who you've lost. My family, we are always thinking about the people we have lost, and those memories are a lot of what holds us together, the things we share the most."

In "Angels Sing," Harry Connick Jr. portrays Michael, an embittered history teacher who is offended by Christmas traditions such as singing and hanging lights due to a painful memory surrounding the festive season. As memories resurface, new things come to light and Michael is offered a chance at redemption.

While talking to CP, Pipkin also noted the challenges of the holiday season, especially for families that have lost loved ones who they miss during Christmas.

"Christmas is hard on a lot of people, and people who have read 'When Angels Sing' tell me that it is a part of their Christmas tradition, which gratifying for me," said the author. "But I also have others who were reluctant to see the movie because Christmas is a hard time for them, and after seeing the movie, they sort of changed their tune and got excited about Christmas again, which is great too."

The author noted his nonprofit organization Nobelity, and the true meaning of the Christmas spirit in today's world where there is so much commercialization.

"It is a crazy long season, I have mixed feelings about it," The Texas native said. "The Black Friday thing- Christmas is such a retail opportunity, but the Tuesday that follows is now Giving Tuesday. Its all about attitude."

Moreover, the "Angels Sing" soundtrack will be available on Dec. 17 and includes Lyle Lovett, Willie Nelson, and a slew of Austin, Texas musicians.
