Angie Harmon Food Tips and Prayer

Angie Harmon, star of TNT's "Rizzoli & Isles" has spoken out about the importance of food and family meals as well as the faith that plays such a strong part of her life.

She has partnered with Uncle Ben's Rice products in the hope of encouraging family meals. "Like most families, I know firsthand how hard it can be to commit to making family meals and even harder to take the time to involve kids in the cooking, but I think it's extremely important," Harmon told Self magazine.

"I like to cook balanced meals but they are so uncomplicated. My favorite is a teriyaki salmon with a pineapple salsa on top; easy 90-second rice from Uncle Ben's on the side and finished off with some roasted broccoli. There are maybe six ingredients in the whole thing and it tastes great."

Harmon explains that simply keeping up with her three children: Finley Faith, Avery Grace, and Emery Hope is exercise in itself but that she makes an effort to work hard.

"When I get bored, I get into trouble," she told Good Housekeeping. "It's so much better for me to cook with one [child] on my hip, another on my leg, and I'm yelling at Jason to put them outside on the trampoline."

Another of the family's favorite meals is a very simple Greek chicken. "You cut up a whole chicken and put Hidden Valley Italian Ranch dressing all over it with a little Worcestershire sauce, and then you bake it. Heaven. My happiest time is when the girls are all running around, and I have to step over the dog to get to the fridge," she happily tells the magazine.

There's one other secret to Harmon's success and healthy lifestyle: prayer. "As a mother, I can't be close enough to God. I am always praying for protection. Me? I pray everywhere-in the shower, on a plane, in traffic, you name it. When I feel like I have had enough, I will literally take a knee, bow my head and beg God for help and strength."
