Ann Romney made her national debut in a shining speech at Tuesday's Republican Convention introducing her husband, Mitt.

Since the 2012 presidential campaign began, Romney has been by her husband's side as he vies for the as he vies for the Republican Party nomination for the United States presidential elections.

While the former Governor of Massachusetts has been painted as unapproachable and chilly, his wife exuded easy laughter and warmth, especially during the Republican Convention in Tampa, Fla. Tuesday evening.

After talking to the audience "from my heart about our hearts," Romney, 63, went on to introduce her husband, who she revealed she had met at a high school dance.

She added her family's background including their struggles, and also debunked rumors of her "storybook marriage," saying her marriage was simply "real."

Then, Romney admitted that her husband has done better than most, but she insisted that "as his partner on this amazing journey, I can tell you Mitt Romney was not handed success. He built it."

The speech was Romney's attempt for America to get to know her husband's personal side and to boost his connection with voters.

"I know this good and decent man for what he is," continued Romney. "He's warm, and loving, and patient. He has tried to live his life with a set of values centered on family, faith, and love of one fellow man."

Moreover, Romney maintained that her husband's determination to succeed is what will help fix the economy if he is elected.

"This is the man America needs," she concluded. "I can't tell you what will happen over the next four years. But I can only stand here tonight as a wife and a mother and a grandmother, an American, and make you this solemn commitment, this man will not fail."

The Romneys have five children and 18 grandchildren.
