'Ant-Man' News: Evangeline Lilly Talks About New Story Details

Evangeline Lilly is best known for her role as Kate in ABC's "Lost." But now, the actress is building a career in film, and what better way to do that than to star in a Marvel super hero movie?

Lilly has already been featured in the last two "The Hobbit" movies as the elf warrior Tauriel. But the actress is expected to shine as she joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe in next year's "Ant-Man," starring Paul Rudd as the titular character.

While promoting "The Hobbit," Lilly spoke to CNN about her "Ant-Man" character, Hope Van Dyne, the daughter of Hank Pym (Michael Douglas).

"Hope is the daughter of the founders of the Avengers, Ant-Man, and the Wasp. She is a very talented, intelligent, capable woman and a force to be reckoned with," said Lilly. "[Ant-Man] is very much a heist film. It has all the fun, tension and drama of a good heist film. The heist is being masterminded by myself, my father, and Scott Lang."

Meanwhile, a new character has been announced as part of the cast of "Ant-Man," according to Stitch Kingdom. Jordi Molla (Riddick, Bad Boys II) will be playing a villain named Castillo. In the Ant-Man comics, Dr. Castillo is a female physician who specializes in metahumans and superheroes. Also part of the cast is Corey Stoll as Darren Cross/Yellow Jacket, Bobby Cannavale as Paxton, Michael Pena as Luis, and Judy Greer as Maggie.

In addition to the minor casting announcement, Marvel also updated their synopsis for the film:

"The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time with Marvel Studio's 'Ant-Man'. Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world."

"Ant-Man" arrives in theaters on July 17, 2015.
