Anthony Mundine Wants Fight With Floyd Mayweather After Defeating Sergey Rabchenko

Australian boxer Anthony Mundine had expressed his intentions in getting Floyd Mayweather to fight him after defeating Belarusian Sergey Rabchenko in a split points decision Wednesday night in Melbourne.

Rabchenko has been undefeated for 25 fights before losing to the 39-year old Mundine. With the win, Mundine is now in a position to take on the WBC title holder Floyd Mayweather.

"I think Floyd is the best and it's up to him if he wants to fight me," Mundine said. The Australian boxer had acquired his win against Rabchenko after losing to former IBF welterweight champion Joshua Clottey in April earlier this year. The fighter has also admitted that it will be difficult to get the attention of the WBC champion.

"We want to put pressure on the WBC. I'm the mandatory so I want Mayweather to fulfill his obligation to fight me," Mundine says. "But listen, Mayweather is Mayweather. I'm not going to disrespect him. He's the best in the sport, he can choose who he wants to fight, who he's going to make the most money from."

"He probably doesn't think I've earned my right yet and I probably haven't – I'm the first to admit that," he added.

Certainly, Mundine would have a hard time getting Mayweather's attention considering that a fight against Manny Pacquiao is more favored. With that, the Australian boxer may have to settle with the division championship with fights against fighters like Saul Alvarez or Miguel Cotto.

Regarding his fight against Rabchenko, Mundine has mentioned the he hasn't fought anyone like him during his long-career.

"He's a young lion. The man can punch and he's probably the best body puncher I've every faced. But I outboxed him," he says.
