Many have already heard about the urgent situation we are in concerning reaching this young generation. The BattleCry message, stemming from the BattleCry for a Generation book, has been broadcasted over Christian and secular airwaves all across the nation. ABC Nightline, the New York Times front page, CNN, Fox News, O’Reilly Factor, and the San Francisco Chronicle have all commented on the current data that shows we are perilously close to losing any kind of Bible-believing Christian foundation in the next generation. Now is the time for us to do something real and practical about it.
As we prepare for this season of Acquire the Fire and BattleCry events, it is important for us all to realize that youth events are NOT the solution to the issue. The events are geared towards giving churches across the region a specific reason to focus on young people like never before.
The Church must rise up to be the solution. We don’t need another government program or act of Congress to allocate money to do more social good for teenagers. What we need in the Church of Jesus Christ to rise up and capture the hearts of this generation in an unprecedented way.
Churches all over America are rising up to take the challenge to double and disciple their youth groups this next year. Pastors of churches of all sizes—from mega churches to churches who can’t afford to hire a youth pastor and have volunteer youth workers—are all committing to double and disciple their groups. This should be our response as the Church to the urgent crisis facing young people.
Some have already started including Pastor Edwin Pacheco from Bay Ridge Christian Center, New York City. He has already doubled his youth group in the past 2 months! Many others have committed to doubling their youth group before the Acquire the Fire and BattleCry events coming to their area.
As we travel from city to city all over the country, we are finding youth by the thousands who have already committed to double their group. No more mister nice guy. We have to go after these kids! Sure we’re doing big events, but in order to win young people to Christ, the local church must rise up and win young people to Christ.

Let’s stop making excuses and go after these young people! Let’s go after them more passionately than MTV or BET.
