Apple HQ to Hold Memorial Service for Steve Jobs Oct. 19

A memorial service for Steve Jobs is set to be held in the amphitheater of Apple’s headquarters.

Apple’s employees received an email from CEO Tim Cook informing them of the service recently.

News agencies reported that Cook wrote in the email: "Although many of our hearts are still heavy, we are planning a celebration of his life for Apple employees to take time to remember the incredible things Steve achieved in his life and the many ways he made our world a better place."

Job’ official death certificate was released by Santa Clara County officials this weekend. His cause of death was listed as “respiratory arrest” caused by a “metastatic pancreas neuroendocrine tumor.”

Jobs was first diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2004. He later had a liver transplant.

Apple Inc’s co-founder was buried Friday in a private funeral at an undisclosed location apparently to evade protests by the controversial Westboro Baptist Church that holds the iconic entrepreneur responsible for gay marriage.

Jobs’ family held a private funeral Friday, according to The Wall Street Journal, which quoted “a person familiar with the matter.” However, the source refused to disclose where and what time it was held or who were invited, “citing respect for Jobs and his family’s privacy.”

A documentary special titled “iGenius: How Steve Jobs Changed the World” will be aired by the Discovery Channel on Oct 19.
