Apple News: Belkin Dongle with Charger and Earphone Support Now Sold in Retail Stores

Apple has always been known to be innovative in terms of creating devices that predict future trends. Most recently, they introduced the Face ID. However, before they developed the futuristic security option for users, they first predicted that the world would go wireless. This can be seen in how they removed the headphone jack in the iPhone 7.

Recent reports have revealed that Apple has finally come around to selling a dongle for those who would like to keep using wired headphones.

According to The Verge, the dongle will allow users to charge their iPhone, as well as plug in earphones or an auxiliary cable for those who are fond of listening to their own music while in the car. The original Rockstar dongle from Belkin only provided support for two Lightning ports. People found this to be inconvenient for a phone, even though it might be acceptable for a laptop.

So far, firsthand experience on the new Rockstar dongle from Belkin reveals that the audio performance did not suffer and that it yielded similar results to that of Apple's own headphone jack adapter.

Unfortunately, as capable as the new dongle might be, it is significantly bigger than the headphones only adapter. Although some found this to be undesirable, fans predict that many would still acquire the dongle for accessibility and convenience purposes.

Reports reveal that the Rockstar dongle is now available in Apple retail stores. It costs a hefty $34.95, which is still $5 cheaper than the original version. It was built to support the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, as well as the newest iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. Although it remains to be unseen if it has support for the upcoming iPhone X, fans expect that considering the price tag, it better work as well as it does on an iPhone 7.
