Apple Red iPhone News, Details: Available In Apple Stores by March 24; Part of Proceeds Go to AIDS Medication, Prevention

After its iconic white, jet black and rose gold colors, Apple adds a new iconic color for its iPhone line, and this time, it is a sleek red.

The new phone is still basically under the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus model, except that it comes in a vibrant red aluminum finish.

The new color is not just introduced for style and design purposes, but it is offered in support of Apple's advocacy to contribute in the fight against HIV/AIDS worldwide.

In partnership with (RED), Apple ensures that part of the sales from the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition will go to a Global Fund that helps provide access to AIDS medication and prevention in sub-saharan African areas, which is home to two-thirds of the whole HIV-infected population.

Apple has already contributed $130 million to the organization, out of the total $465 million that (RED) has generated for its global fund.

"Customers now have a remarkable opportunity to make a difference and contribute to the Global Fund through the purchase of this new beautiful (PRODUCT)RED iPhone," says (RED) CEO Deborah Dugan in an Apple press release.

On the other hand, Tim Cook, Apple CEO, says that the new iPhone 7 in the Special Red Edition is part of celebrating their 10-year partnership with the organization.

"The introduction of this special edition iPhone in a gorgeous red finish is our biggest (PRODUCT)RED offering to date in celebration of our partnership with (RED), and we can't wait to get it into customers' hands," the CEO said.

The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition will be available in Apple stores and retailers by March 24. It will have two storage variants, 128GB and 256GB, and prices starts at $749.

In other news, Apple also introduced a new app called Clips. This is set to debut alongside the upcoming iOS 10.3 update and will allow users to share a combination of videos, text, graphics and more.
