Apple Releases iOS 8.1.2 for Ringtones Fix

In a surprising move, Apple released the iOS 8.1.2 update for their iPhones, iPads and iPad Touch units to address problems with ringtones purchases suddenly disappearing from Apple devices.

While the iOS 8.1.2 update was launched without much fanfare along with an accompanying site to help consumers recover their missing ringtones, it does not seem to serve any major updates save for the promise to fix the disappearing iTunes Store-purchased ringtones.

This may serve to disappoint many users as the iOS 8.1.2 and its 28.2MB update pales even in comparison to the iOS 8.1.1, which was still able to fix a few bugs and performance issues for some Apple units.

Another issue that may come up is that Apple has not been clear in communicating with and responding to users, and focusing on a ringtone defect in lieu of more pressing glitches will definitely not make some happy.

However, users who are losing their ringtones and do want the glitch fixed can try and update their phones as Apple starts releasing the iOS 8.1.2 to the iPhone 4S; iPhone 5, 5C and 5S; iPhone 6 and 6 Plus; iPad 2 through 4; iPad mini through mini 3; iPad Air and Air 2; and the iPod Touch 5th gen.

The update will most likely take only a few minutes given the size, so users can check for the updates by going to the Settings app, tapping on General, and then tapping on Software Update to check and see if the update is available to them.

As always, at least 50 percent battery power is needed to be able to install the minute update.
With numerous problems plaguing the iOS 8.1 and its less than satisfactory updates, most Apple users are hopeful that the upcoming iOS 8.2 update will finally fix all the mess.
