Apple Stores Introducing Self-Checkout System

Apple is upgrading its retail stores iOS app, which will now allow customers to utilize a self-checkout process for the company's products.

Apple customers who already own an iOS-enabled device can finalize their purchases through the Apple store application. They will soon be able to pay for any other Apple product, which will streamline the process for other Apple store customers.

Sources for website MacRumors said that "self-checkout purchases will be charged via the Apple Store app to the customer's iTunes Store account."

High-priced items such as the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S will still require the assistance of Apple store employees. Only now, customers won't have to get the attention of employees with an EasyPay device in order to finalize their payment.

This self-checkout process will be heavily monitored by Apple and the store's employees.

This is being done in order to verify customers' email receipts of any Apple device.

Once done with the process, Apple store employees will just have to bring customers their items from the stock room.

The Next Web offered some more insight into this new way of shopping for Apple customers: "The site is partly banking on info by Eric Chen at Heylookitseric.com, which suggests that an update to the Apple Store iOS app, arriving on November 3rd, will allow customers to take advantage of self checkouts."

User ayanbiswas of the website The Next Web seems to like this new update: "[I] appreciate how meticulous Apple is [for] not only designing their products but also the 'In Store' experience. [It] matters a lot for buyers who still depend on brick and mortar outlets for their purchases."

Apple previously updated its Apple Store app by allowing online orders to be shipped to its stores for pickups. This program made its debut last Wednesday at Apple's San Francisco retails locations.

Another update that Apple is working on could be great for this coming Holiday season. Customers will soon be able to make a single order of multiple items and have them shipped to different addresses. This means people will now be able to purchase several Apple gift items in one order and ship them to several locations.
