Apple Watch 2 News: Apple Discontinues Sale of Wearable Device with the Arrival of its Successor

With the arrival of its Apple Watch 3, Apple has silently pulled out the Apple Watch 2 from the store shelves and its own website.

While everybody is still abuzz with the unveiling of the iPhone X, not so many people seem to have paid attention to the release of the Apple Watch 3, which debuted along with the iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus last Sept. 12. With the arrival of the latest Apple wearable device, though, it has been learned that the Cupertino-based company has silently discontinued the sale of its Apple Watch 2.

The Apple Watch 2 was released alongside the iPhone7 and the iPhone 7 Plus in September last year, which means it has only been existence for a year. While Apple has not released an official statement that it has discontinued the sale of the wearable device, it has silently removed the Apple Watch 2 from its website.

Some tech pundits opine that Apple's movie to discontinue the sale of the Apple Watch 2 is not really a surprise. While the Apple Watch 3 now comes with its own LTE connectivity that makes it possible for its would-be users to make a phone call and use data without tethering to an iPhone, it is just an option that adds price to the device.

Overall, some consider the Apple Watch 3 as nothing more than an incremental upgrade to the Apple Watch 2, which can be the logical explanation why the wearable device has been pulled out of the market.

With the consumers now left only with two choices, Apple Watch 1 and Apple Watch 3, it is expected that the recently unveiled wearable device is the runaway winner. After all, even without the LTE component, the Apple Watch 3 does not only come with a faster processor as compared to its predecessor but offers a lot of features that catch the fancy of smartwatch crazy individuals.
