Apple iWatch Release Date: Launch Date Moved to April 2015?

Amidst the rumors surrounding the release of the highly anticipated wearable tech from Apple, the Apple Watch, recent reports confirm that the device will hit the shelves at a later date than what was speculated.

Chris Velazco of Engadget.com stated in his report that the smartwatch from the Cupertino-based tech giant "should ship in April 2015" -- exactly a month later than in previous reports.

This information comes directly from Apple CEO Tim Cook who recently spoke during the company's quarterly earnings call.

"The creativity and software innovation going on around Apple Watch is incredibly exciting," Cook said."We can't wait for our customers to experience them when Apple Watch becomes available."

iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus maker didn't include in the announcement the exact date of the outing. Nonetheless, the firm did clarify the timeframe in which the smartwatch is expected to hit the store shelves. Needless to say, this is a rare occurrence in a company who generally prefers to remain mum on any specifics until an on-stage event.

Speaking further about the release date, Cook also noted during his speech (via the tech website) that the development for the gizmo "was going according to schedule." In turn, this implies that the April launching date "was the plan all along."

As part of the quarterly financial report, BBC meanwhile stated that Apple's revenue had grown to $74.6 billion in 2014, which is seen as a 30 percent increase from last year's earning.

Much of its success was attributed to the iPhone sales which as Buster Hein of Cult of Mac said to be an "unbelievable" one.

"Oh my gosh, it's unbelievable," he explained. "I mean, a lot of us were expecting good iPhone sales during the holidays, but I don't think anybody really thought Apple was going to blow past 70 million units sold."
