Apple Watch Release Date, Rumors: Smartwatch to Hit Shelves After Chinese New Year?

Apple has been constantly under the watch of its customers, who are eagerly awaiting their first foray into wearable technology. The Cupertino-based tech giant has remained quiet about the actual release date of the Apple Watch, only letting on that it will be released sometime in next year.

Apple Watch, the first wearable tech from the company, was introduced last September alongside the Phone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The square-faced, elegant digital timepiece has been demonstrated extensively but its release date is still maintained to be around the "early of 2015."

That could change, according to the latest reports.

Just recently, tech rumors cited the Senior Vice President of Apple Retail and Online Stores addressing Apple Retail employees in a video message. The report first came via 9to5Mac.

The site put emphasis on the SVP talking about the upcoming holiday season, the Chinese New Year, and then the purported spring release of the Apple Watch.

"We're going into the holidays, we'll go into Chinese New Year, and then we've got a new watch launch coming in the spring," SVP Angela Arendts said in the message.

By mentioning the Chinese New Year, which will be celebrated on Feb. 19, and the "spring" watch launch, she potentially put the timeframe for release between March 20 and the start of summer in June 21.

Forbes meanwhile chimed in their speculation regarding the delayed release date.

"Apple wanted to finish the watch in time for the 2014 holiday shopping season but the software wasn't ready for a release," the site said. "Apple appears to be especially focused on making sure the watch's battery lasts through a day and ideally getting the charge time down to a bare minimum."

The Apple watch will start at $350.
