Apple Watch Series 3 Reviews: Why Apple's Latest Smartwatch is a Must-Have Despite LTE Connectivity Issues

The Apple Watch series 3 has yet to find its way to the store shelves, but those who have been privileged to have tried the wearable device in advance swear that it provides a great deal of convenience.

While the unveiling of the Apple Watch series 3 was overshadowed by the iPhone X, which was the main attraction at the Apple's event last Sept. 12, reviews of the wearable device suggest that it is one device worth one's cash. After all, with the smartwatch now coming with its own LTE connectivity, it can be used as a substitute to the iPhone under some circumstances.

The New York Times opines that one of the most impressive features of the Apple Watch series 3 with the LTE connectivity feature is that one can place and receive supposedly crystal-clear calls, read and send text messages, and stream music even if he is away from his iPhone.

While the Apple Watch series 3 with LTE requires a $10 per month on top of a subscriber's iPhone plan in many carriers, it is suggested that it is worth the subscription as it will still use the same phone number. Hence, phone calls, text messages, and emails are channeled to the watch in the event that the user is away from his phone, such as situations wherein one is jogging, in the gym, or simply out for a walk.

However, some publications who have received a unit of the Apple Watch series 3 have complained that, instead of using data, the smartwatch connects with unknown Wi-Fi sources. Although Apple replaced their respective units, the problem has remained. This prompted the Cupertino-based company to release a statement acknowledging the problem and promising to release a software update to address the issue.

"We have discovered that when Apple Watch Series 3 joins unauthenticated Wi-Fi networks without connectivity, it may at times prevent the watch from using cellular. We are investigating a fix for a future software release," an Apple representative said in an emailed statement.

The Apple Watch Series 3 hits the store shelves this Sept. 22 and carries a price tag of $399.
