iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus Specs Rumors: Next-Gen iPhones Will Likely to Arrive With 7000 Series Aluminum

Just like the recently-released Apple Watch Sport, Apple's next-generation of iPhones, purportedly called the "iPhone 6s" and the "iPhone 6s Plus" are said to arrive with the custom Series 7000 aluminum alloy material.

Taiwan's Economic Daily News said that just like their first wearable tech, Apple will likely to use the said material which is reported to be "60% stronger than most aluminum" and is considerably light weight despite the fact that it has more density (1/3) than regular stainless steel.

The strength and durability of the 7000 Series aluminum used in the Apple Watch was further described by the Cupertino-based tech giant (via Mac Rumors) in their website to come at par with those used in competition bicycles.

The smartwatch's premium appeal is further attributed to the rigorous process they implemented in making the device.

"Each case is machined and polished, then blasted with microscopic zirconia beads to achieve a consistent, satin texture. A special anodizing process creates a hard, clear outer layer that helps protect against scratches and corrosion," Apple claimed.

MacRumors noted public that everyone should take Economic Daily News' rumor item with a "proverbial grain of salt" given the site's "mixed track record" in reporting Apple's upcoming plans.

As for the "iPhone 6" and the "iPhone 6s Plus," it was reported by GSM Arena that Apple is expected to unveil the next-gen smartphone "at some point in September."
