Apple's new versions of 'Bluetooth Magic Mouse' and wireless keyboard leaked.

The U.S. Federal Communications Commission surprised Apple when a pair of filings appeared on the organization's website. The filings listed the possible upgrades that Apple had in store for their Magic Mouse and wireless keyboard. These were accompanied by images showing the FCC label location on a new mouse, revealing that new mouse as "Magic Mouse 2".

Apple has been working to bring out the upgrades on its mouse and keyboard for some time now.
The name of the new wireless keyboard could not be ascertained. Rumors are strong that Apple could be using the new accessory to plug in Force Touch support over the desktop.

The images do not reveal any new design details on the exterior but does show a small switch that appears to be a power switch on the top left side of the keyboard. This indicates that the accessories are to be upgraded externally.

Speculations point toward the new Bluetooth keyboard controls in iOS 9 being made iPad-compatible and the Apple wireless keyboard will receive new special keys to manage iPad applications or features.

Apple's Magic Mouse and wireless keyboard have not been upgraded in the last few years. The leak indicates a substantial jump in the internal capabilities. Both the devices are being upgraded from Bluetooth 2.1 to Bluetooth 4.2. This upgrade will hopefully see an increase in battery life and efficient compatibilities between the input devices and the main computer.

Apple has been able to remove the barrel-shaped casing of the replaceable AA batteries from the bottom of the keyboard and included integrated lithium battery packs which users will have to charge.

The "pre-production" testing of both the Magic Mouse 2 and wireless keyboard are over so we may see their release in the near future or they may be showcased in Apple's upcoming September iPhone media event. It may also be possible that Apple will release the new mouse and the keyboard with the Macs later this year.
