April 24 Declared as Internet Evangelism Day
The Internet Evangelism Coalition initiates worldwide focus on web outreach.
The Internet Evangelism Coalition has announced Sunday, April 24 as Internet Evangelism Day. The coalition hopes to bring worldwide focus on internet evangelism on this day and to communicate the outreach potential of the Internet.
The Internet Evangelism Day web site offers downloadable material for churches to use during their services and other meetings. The material includes a five-minute video testimony of a college student who found God online, short drama scripts, PowerPoint presentations, discussion questions, and many helpful links.
One of the goals of Internet Evangelism Day is to improve the effectiveness of church websites. The majority of church websites serve as a simple notice board for members while it can be used as a tool to reach out into the community. Its an exciting challenge, says Internet Evangelism Day coordinator Tony Whittaker. The potential of the Web is enormous.
George Verwer, founder of Operation Mobilization is also very optimistic. The Internet is one of the most key tools that God has given us in the church today, he says.
