Belgium were unlucky not to have won in regular time, and it was only the amazing efforts of USA goalkeeper Tim Howard that stopped them. However, they will also consider themselves lucky, as USA missed a golden opportunity to win in the final minute of injury time, which allowed things to go through to extra-time. Once extra-time started Belgium managed to finally score and they never looked back.

In that game Tim Howard set a World Cup record for the most saves ever made in a single game – 15! However, ultimately it was Belgium that progressed.

Argentina also struggled in their game, and they labored badly to their victory over Switzerland in extra-time. All four of Argentina's wins in the World Cup so far have been by a single goal, and in ever case it has been star player Lionel Messi that proved the difference and proved the spark of magic to claim the win.

Although against Switzerland it was not Messi on the score sheet again, it was his break and amazing pass that set up Angel Di Maria to score the winner.

Belgium defender Jan Vertonghen has indicated his team know how important it is to stop Messi in today's game: "We have to stand together as team. If Messi gets past one of us, then there must a second and third player ready to stop him."
