Convicted Cleveland kidnapper Ariel Castro may have been a pervert to the very end according to a new report from the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, which suggests that his death last month might have been caused by an attempt to choke himself into a sexual thrill.

Quoting from the report, Action 19 News noted on Thursday that although Castro hanged himself with a sheet attached to a hinge of a window in his cell in September, he left no suicide note. The despised convict also died with an open Bible and pictures of his family spread out in a poster board format on the floor of his cell.

While it was not concluded, the report also suggests that Castro might have died from auto-erotic asphyxiation, which is strangling or suffocating oneself to heighten sexual arousal and orgasm.

According to the report, Castro was found with his pants and underwear pulled down to his ankles but it is not clear what he was doing at the time. The details, however, were shared with the Ohio State Highway Patrol for consideration that Castro may have been pleasuring himself.

The kidnapper was also noted as complaining about verbal harassment from other inmates and prison staff but refused to mention any names. He also felt his food was being tampered with. The report also showed that logs pertaining to rounds by guards were falsified and incomplete.

Further details reported by CBS News note that "multiple levels of assessment" revealed no tendency toward suicide in Castro. A full mental health evaluation found "no evidence of serious mental illness or indications for suicide precautions were present."

Castro also expressed interest in the possibility of serving his time segregated from the general prison population.

He blamed his problems on an addiction to pornography and described himself as a sex addict at his sentencing in August.

"These people are trying to paint me as a monster," he had said. "I'm not a monster. I'm sick."

Despite the conclusions of Castro's mental health assessment, he alluded to taking his life at some point in the future in a 2004 note discovered by authorities in a search of his house in May.

Video evidence from surveillance video also showed that guards did not do at least eight required checks on Castro the afternoon and evening before he died, according to CBS. Two checks were done properly, however, just before Castro hanged himself.
