'Arrow' Season 3: Will Detective Lance Turn Against the Arrow?

After being allies for quite some time, Detective Lance (Paul Blackthorne) may be ready to turn against the Arrow (Stephen Amell).

It can be recalled that Laurel (Katie Cassidy) deceived her father for weeks, worrying that letting him know that her sister Sara (Caity Lotz) had died would further complicate his heart condition. But the truth was revealed in an emotional scene last week, and the fallout will be felt throughout the season, says Blackthorne.

"I think he'll have a few trust issues to try to deal with," Blackthorne told the Hollywood Reporter. "Not only with her, but the Arrow as well."

In season one, Lance made it his mission to hunt the Arrow before finally accepting him as someone who wants to keep the city safe. But everything is set to change very soon.

"[The Arrow's] identity could be more of an interest to him than before," said Blackthorne. "He hasn't worried about who the Arrow was while he thought the guy was good. Their relationship will change, and Lance is forced into situations he wouldn't be expected to be forced into."

And while Oliver is not a fan of Laurel being the Black Canary, her father may have an even stronger reaction as he watches his daughter take on a vigilante role.

"He's disgusted with that idea," said Blackthorne to TVLine. "That Laurel thinks that she can step into Sara's shoes. She's a lawyer, she always had her head in the books growing up … And here she is trying to emulate Sara? Lance is like, 'Look, Laurel, I've lost one daughter down that route. Please, don't continue. I want to keep you alive.'"

"Arrow" airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on The CW.
