'Arrow' Season 4 Release Date News: Stephen Amell Shuts Down Goatee Rumors
Fans may have already known that Stephen Amell's titular superhero in The CW's hit crime-fighting drama TV series "Arrow" will be sporting a brand-new, close to the source-material, fighting suit, in the show's upcoming Season 4.
Moreover, the character will get even closer to his DC Comics roots as the Green Arrow. The news expectedly draws in rumors indicating that to go along with Oliver Queen's new look and new identity, he will be displaying his iconic facial hair.
Unfortunately, this might not be case at all. Amell was recently cited going over to his social media account to cut off the "goatee" speculations.
"100 percent no. Never. Our show could go 14 seasons and a goatee will never appear. Hope that clears things up. Forever," Amell said on his Twitter.
With that issue already settled, a recent report from Access Hollywood cited an interview done with Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim where he talks about the new season's big bad.
"Damien's a different kind of villain than we've had on the show before," said Guggenheim. "He's not as centurion as Ra's, he's not as looney tune as Slade, he's not as -- and people will be surprised I use this word -- but he's not as noble as Malcolm Merlyn. He's pure evil. We wanted someone who was truly, truly malevolent. We've never done that on the show before. All of our big bads always thought they were doing... the wrong thing for the right reason. This guy does the wrong thing for the wrong reasons," the executive producer said.
Guggenheim went on to tease that fans will get to be acquainted right away with Darhk on the early parts of the season.
"It's a bad situation to have this guy coming in. And the other thing that we're doing that's different is in past seasons, you've had to wait 'til usually the mid-season finale to meet the big bad and have Oliver confront the big bad. We are coming out of the gate strong. We're not waiting and actually, that itself has really energized the show and it infuses even the 'villain of the week' episodes with an epic-ness that they wouldn't otherwise have," he told Access Hollywood.
"Arrow" Season 4 premieres Oct. 7 on The CW.
