"Arrow" Season 5 will be an exciting season indeed as the series presents a bloody combat between Oliver Green as the Green Arrow and a villain played by Dolph Lundgren. Season 5 will be set in Russia and showrunner Wendy Mericle from DC Comics said that the creators of "Arrow" wanted the series to be as realistic as it can get.

Will this plot finally reveal why Green is sporting a Bratva tattoo? Will Lundgren's character mean that Green will be dealing with the mafia organization this season?

The showrunner also revealed that the staff of the series watched "Eastern Promises" by David Cronenberg in 2007. This movie helped writers and cast get inspiration for the series.

Mericle likewise mentioned that she has also sought inspiration from documentary videos featuring Bratva and the situation inside Russian prison cells. The Bratva is known for their adherence to violence and their brutality, especially towards their victims. Fans will witness violent fights and a lot of action in "Arrow's" next season.

Cast and crew recommend fans to watch "Eastern Promises" to catch a glimpse of the kind of action to expect in Season 5 of "Arrow".

More worries for Green

Dolph Lundgren's evil character will not be the only thing that Green has to deal with next season. Oliver Green, who was shipwrecked, will also have to worry about keeping his promise to Taiana regarding the circumstance about her and her brother.

He has to balance his life being the new mayor of Star City and fighting crime with or without his superhero suit. Flashbacks will also be featured in Season 5 which, according to reports, seem to be disjointed from the actual present-day story. The new storyline based in Russia will now become the current timeline of the series, while flashbacks will still continue with relevance to the present time.

New stills and premiere date released

New stills for the new season have been released and fans just cannot help talking about it online. Images included are the Arrow, the villain Prometheus, and most of the cast. "Arrow" Season 5 will premiere October 5 on The CW on the same time slot.
