Arsenal will play hosts to Chelsea at the Emirates on Monday as the Gunners look to reclaim their top of the table spot.

With last weekend's 6-3 drumming at the hands of Manchester City, Arsene Wenger will be looking to earn a full three points when Jose Mourinho and Chelsea take the pitch. Arsenal's loss dropped them to third position while Chelsea got bumped down to the fifth spot

Speaking to the way his side finished the match, Wenger revealed that he had to make a decision that proved to be the wrong one.

"We just put ourselves in a position in which we had to chase the game with tired legs. We had to open up completely. When it was 4-2 we had to make a decision -- do we really go for it, knowing that we can be punished on the counter-attack?" Wenger told reporters during a press conference.

"I decided to take that gamble. It was close but it didn't pay off and we were punished with two goals, including a penalty in the last minute. You know that if you really want to win you sometimes have to take massive gambles. This was one and I knew that but we wanted to take every risk to try and come back," he added.

Arsenal will be careful not to overlook a Chelsea team who has been inconsistent this season, given that Chelsea beat the Gunners back on Oct. 29 of this year during the Capital One Cup.

"This season Chelsea are like all the teams -- they have alternated between very good and sometimes average. Why? Because it is so difficult to win everywhere nowadays that everybody is afraid at home and away. They have been strong, and have a talented young team, but in the Premier League every game is difficult," Wenger said.

Kick off for the match is at 3 p.m. ET and can be watched online here.
