New-boy Yohan Cabaye gave Palace their third of the night as they welcomed the season positive that they can make things better this time around.

On the other hand, there was a lot of expectation coming into Arsenal's new season.

Many believed that they were real title challengers who could unseat Chelsea atop the Premier League.

They showed what they were capable of against the defending champions in the Community Shield as they beat the Blues 1-0 to win the first title of the new season.

Facing West Ham United in their first game, many thought that the Hammers would be no trouble for Arsene Wenger's men, especially since they were playing at the Emirates, where West Ham have had a torrid time in recent years.

But West Ham stunned the Gunners, and strikes from Cheikhou Kouyate and Mauro Zarate sunk Arsenal in front of their home fans.

They should still have the advantage on paper against Crystal Palace as they have more stars on the pitch with Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey, Theo Walcott and Alexis Sanchez ready to play.

However, they have to tighten up on defense if they want to secure points, or else Crystal Palace may hand them a second loss of the season.
