'Ash vs Evil Dead' News, Update: Series Star Bruce Campbell Says TV Series Will Have A Tone for Itself Plus Other Teasers

Starz's Halloween timeslot is about to get even more exciting with its upcoming offering, "Ash vs. Evil Dead," a small screen follow-up to the hit "Evil Dead" trilogy franchise from Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell.

Campbell, who served as an executive producer and lead star in both the movie and TV series titles, has spoken recently with the people from Entertainment Weekly to clarify some of the issues pointed out by fans.

The 57-year-old started off by saying that the show is "going to be like itself" when it comes to the tone. The reason is quite simple. He said that "all the movies are different" and the series "is bound to be a little bit different also."

"It is a combination of horror and comedy. And every episode will have varying degrees of that. So we take the horror seriously, that's for sure. But we had to tell Starz and remind them that, you know, these movies are not just straight horror — they're a little weird. They're not goofy. It's not that sort of thing. But they will have a comedic edge to it," Campbell told EW.

Discussing on the Deadites, Campbell went on to reveal that fans will find a whole new versions of the demons. He did, however, clarify that the villains won't be shown in "a demon of the week" fashion.

Nevertheless, viewers should expect an exciting ride with "creepy," "shocking," and "disgusting" types of horror as well as "little comedy" acts all packed in one enjoyable mix.

Campbell also told the publication that avid followers should also be on the lookout for some Easter eggs as the show is "going to revisit some things that are familiar" perhaps including Ash's 1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88, Faygo Redpop, and many more.

EW lastly dealt Campbell the question if, like the films, "Ash vs Evil Dead" series will feature some time travel scenes. Although not succinctly confirmed, the cult film actor did teased that viewers should not be surprised "it if does happen because it has happened" and that the concept is already laid out in the writer's table.

"Ash vs Evil Dead" premieres October 31 on Starz.
