Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag PC's Freedom Cry DLC Delayed Until it 'Meets Expectations,' Says Ubisoft

Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag's new DLC, Freedom Cry, will not be available for the PC until the next couple of days, said an executive from Ubisoft.

Freedom Cry has suffered delays for the Windows PC despite the other versions of it being available for home consoles today.

"The PC version of the Freedom Cry DLC for Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag will release in the coming days. We are taking the extra time to apply a final layer of polish to ensure that it meets the expectations of our fans," the post said.

"For Adéwale, freedom isn't just a vague concept. The charismatic quartermaster who co-starred alongside Edward Kenway in Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag was once enslaved himself – until he forged his own path to freedom, then turned to a life of piracy and eventually embraced the Creed. And now he's taking center stage in the story-driven single-player DLC Freedom Cry, which will be out on December 17 on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC," a post on the Ubisoft blog said promoting the game.

The new DLC is $9.99 to purchase online.

"Set 15 years after the end of Black Flag, Freedom Cry stars an older Adewale, who has since stepped out of Kenway's shadow to become a seasoned Assassin and valued member of the Brotherhood," Ubisoft communications manager Gary Steinman wrote in the post.

Recently Ubisoft said they were very proud of the PC version of the game, and the delay is definitely proof of that as they are looking to put forth a superb product.

"We are very proud of the PC version of Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag," said Sylvain Trottier, the associate producer of the game on Ubisoft's blog. "The game runs well on low-end PCs, and lots of additional features were added for higher-end machines, allowing each and every customer to fully enjoy the experience on their PCs. Our partnership with Nvidia that saw our respective engineering teams work together to develop a highly optimized PC version also demonstrates our commitment to the platform."

Trottier cites that the PC platform is something that will work best for the team because every developer works behind a PC, and console versions of games begin their life on the computer. Also, with the Xbox One and PS4 so advanced, they are almost on par with the PC already.

The PC version of the game launched the November 19th in the U.S. and in Europe on the 22nd. The game previously launched for the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U on Oct. 29.
