'Assassin's Creed': Franchise Exec Confirms TV Series Adaptation

Recently, one of the executives working for "Assassin's Creed" confirmed that there will be a TV series adaptation of the franchise.

This week, the Head of Content for "Assassin's Creed," Aymar Azaizia, initiated an Ask Me Anything event via Reddit where he entertained questions from fans of the franchise. One of the highlights of the AMA was when Azaizia confirmed that there will be an "Assassin's Creed" TV adaptation and prooduction is underway.

While Azaizia did not provide specific details, he commented, "It's like the movie guys, we will take our time, to get sure we deliver something we can be proud of, but if you [wonder] if it's on our plan... YES."

The talks about an "Assassin's Creed" TV show have been swirling around since November 2016 after Ubisoft's chief executive officer, Yves Guillemot, shared that a negotiation between them and the famous streaming platform and entertainment company, Netflix, is underway for a yet-to-be-announced series.

Reports were quick to guess that the talked about series is probably an "Assassin's Creed" adaptation, considering that it is one of the most successful franchises from Ubisoft plus the fact that the title has just been adapted to a movie. So expanding the world of "Assassin's Creed" to another media platform is not far from happening.

Back in December 2016, the first movie adaptation of "Assassin's Creed" premiered on the big screen and starred Michael Fassbender. However, it had an underwhelming reception based on viewers and critics reviews, as seen on rating aggregator websites.

Over at Metacritic, the movie had "generally unfavourable reviews" with 36 out of 100 scores from combined critics reactions. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film had an even lower mark of 17 percent.

Back to the AMA with Azaizia, fans have also naturally asked about the rumored game sequel dubbed as "Assassin's Creed: Empire." Unfortunately, Azaizia remained mum about the matter. One Reddit user told Azaizia, "Can you say 'EMPIRE' just once, please" but the franchise content boss only responded with "LOL."
