Aston Villa hosts New Castle United as both teams fight to stay above the ever nearer relegation zone.
It can be said that both clubs have been underachieving just past the halfway point of the season, and both need to focus and obtaining every available point that each club can get in league play.
"So Tuesday is a massive game for us, massive. We have to walk away with a result and we definitely go there to win. Villa are on a poor run at the moment, we haven't' been on a great run," goalkeeper Tim Krul told reporters during a press conference.
For Newcastle and manager Alan Pardew, all attention will be given to Villa, with the 16th-placed Magpies currently sitting two points clear of the drop zone. The side could be bolstered by the recent signing of five French internationals.
It will be a tough away game, given that Newcastle has not won their last six games in all competitions and have yet to win on the road this season. Papiss Cisse should be the lone target man up front after the departure of Demba Ba to Chelsea, and he should create good chances.
For Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert and his club, the situation is a bit more desperate, given that Villa is just one point away from the relegation zone in 17th place. This has led to rumors that Lambert would not stay on past season's end, but Lambert has insisted he is committed to the club.
But Villa has had other problems outside the league after they were knocked out of the Capital One Cup during a semi-final lost against Bradford City. They were also beat by Millwall during the FA Cup, seeing the top team eliminated from both domestic competitions.
Kick-off for the match is at 2:45 ET and can be watched online here.
