Asus ZenFone 2 Deluxe Edition Gets An Upgrade

Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer Asus has hit it big with its ZenFone line of phones, the most recent one being the ZenFone 2. November of last year, Asus added another variant of ZenFone 2 which it called the ZenFone 2 Deluxe Edition, boasting a whopping 128 GB of internal storage and a faster 2.3 GHz Intel Atom processor. Early this year, that same variant is getting an upgrade, with the release of a second edition of the ZenFone 2 Deluxe, according to a report in Tech Times.

This time around, the device is equipped with an even faster processor. While the first edition only had a 2.3 GHz Intel Atom quad core Z3580 processor, the second edition will have a 2.5 GHz Intel Z3590 processor. It will still be paired with 4 GB of RAM.

In terms of internal storage, the new device will still have 128 GB of storage but instead of an additional 64 GB through a microSD card, it can now be boosted up to 128 GB which effectively gives the user 256 GB of total storage possible.

Aside from the hardware upgrades, there is also a design upgrade of sorts for the device. The device comes with two removable rear covers which have two distinct designs, namely Drift Silver and Carbon Night. Drift Silver is said to be made up of 500 polygons, according to Asus.

Other specs of the device remain unchanged, according to the report. Its display is still the 5.5-inch 1,080 pixel screen, while its battery is still at 3,000 mAh. For its operating system, despite the fact that it is newly released, it only comes with Android Lollipop and not the latest Android OS.

Given the phone's amped up processor, Asus claims that the phone is ideal for playing the mobile racing game "Asphalt 8: Airborne." The app comes pre-installed with the device.

The Tech Times report however said that the downside of having such a powerful processor is battery drain, and given that the phone did not provide an upgraded battery, this may mean needing to charge the phone several times a day.
