Asus Zenfone 2 Release Date To Hit More Asian Markets, CEO Believes Asus Can Ship 25 Million Smartphones In 2015

The Asus Zenfone 2 was one of the newsmakers earlier this year after it was announced in January.

Unfortunately for Asus, it has not been able to release the device to its target markets soon enough.

In fact, the Asus Zenfone 2 and its many variants first hit the company's home market in Taiwan in March, more than two months after initial announcement.

Fortunately, Asus has been successful in lining up the Asian countries that would be getting the handset.

Just last week, the Taiwan-based manufacturer has released the Android-powered handset in Malaysia. In the report by GSM Arena, the four versions of the Zenfone 2 became available for the Asian country last week.

Those editions include model ZE551ML, which boasts a 5.5-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, 4GB RAM, and an option for either 32GB or 64GB internal memory.

The second version has the exact same model number, but gets "only" 2GB of RAM, and a slower 1.8GHz chipset, whereas the higher end model gets a 2.3GHz clocked processor.

The third model is named ZE550ML and packs a 5.5-inch display but with only HD (1280 x 720) resolution, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in memory.

Finally, the fourth version is dubbed ZE500CL, which boasts the smallest display of the four (5 inches), gets a 720p resolution screen, 2GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage.

As for the camera department, the first three variants get a 13MP/5MP camera combination, while the fourth edition has an 8MP main camera and 2MP front cam.

Now that Asus is finally beginning to launch its device to more markets, it will be much closer to accomplishing its goal of shipping 25 million smartphones this year.
