Asus Zenwatch 2 Vs. Moto 360: Battle of the Second Generation Smartwatches (VIDEO)

Asus officially unveiled the ZenWatch 2 at the IFA 2015, the same venue where Motorola has just introduced its new Moto 360 smartwatch.

Three months after Taiwanese PC manufacturer Asus mentioned its ZenWatch 2 at its Computex keynote event, it finally took the cover off its new smartwatch at a September 2 pre-IFA presentation in Berlin.

Not too far away, Motorola debuted its latest Moto 360, a series of round watches in a display of square smart timepieces.

The ZenWatch 2 carries a Snapdragon 400 processor supported by 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. On the other hand, the Moto 360 series, which comes in men's, women's and the Moto 360 Sport versions, has the same CPU specs, with a dedicated GPS chip for its Sports model. All three models will be powered by the latest Android Wear version.

In terms of display, the Asus ZenWatch 2 features an AMOLED screen surrounded by a metal crown, while the second generation Moto 360 smartwatches feature what Motorola dubs its "AnyLight" hybrid screen – a combination of a backlit LCD display with a reflective lit front, making it easier to view under broad daylight.

The ZenWatch 2's design features 49mm and 45mm models that come in gunmetal, silver, and rose gold colors, as well as a choice of interchangeable rubber, stainless steel, and leather straps.

On the other hand, the Moto 360, like its predecessor, will be customizable in a number of finishes, and with more than 300 possible combinations of bands, sizes, straps, and bezels. The men's version will come in black, silver, and gold, while the women's model will be available in silver, gold, and rose gold.

With a price point of approximately $170 and $190, the ZenWatch 2 will be available by October, while the new Moto 360 series will start at $350, with prices varying according to the design, and will go on sale in late September.
