In the new film, the character “Sadie” will be played by Maude Apatow, the director’s daughter. Maude and her sister Iris often appear in their father’s films with along with their mother, Leslie Man, whom Apatow has been married to for 14 years.

“My daughters will be back,” Apatow said at the 2011 Silver Circle Gala in February. “This is how I pay for their college tuition.”

Mann and her daughters formerly portrayed a family in Apatow’s comedy “Knocked Up” as well as in the director’s 2009 “Funny People,” which starred Adam Sandler.

“I’m going to direct a movie this summer, which is a spinning off from Knocked Up,” added Apatow. “It’s about the characters that Rudd and Mann played and all of the issues of their marriage five years later.”

The title of Apatow’s new comedy has not yet been released, but the media speculates that the film may be called “This Is Forty.”

Others set to spear in it are John Lithgow, Albert Brooks, as well as “Knocked Up” actors Jason Segel and Charlyne Yi. Melissa McCarthy, who starred in Apatow’s 2011 hit comedy “Bridesmaids,” will also have a role in the film.

The movie is the director’s fourth project, and it is currently being filmed in Los Angeles. Universal Studios is planning a release next June.
