Avatar 2, 3, 4 Release Date, Sequel Latest News: Rumors Emerge About an Avatar 5 Movie

After James Cameron's announcement earlier this year that there will be a delay in the production of his "Avatar" sequels, comes another revelation that may mean that a fifth sequel is possible.

"Avatar's" music composer, James Horner, was recently interviewed by Hey U Guys and reported in Slash Film, and he revealed that the film's creator James Cameron is working on not just three scripts but four scripts for the "Avatar" sequels.

Horner was quoted as saying, "Right now Jim has four sequels, script wise. And he's trying to make it into three. And that is where, I think, his effort is going right now. To keep it to three sequels. Because he's got so much going on how do you keep it from expanding into a fifth movie, total. And he'll get that sorted out."

Previously, Cameron announced that instead of releasing the next sequel in 2016, it will be delayed to 2017. The main reason for the delay is that Cameron wanted to finish all the scripts for the next three sequels before they start film production. With this recent piece of news, it seems that Cameron and his team of writers have been working hard, enough to produce a script for a fifth sequel.

Based on Horner's revelation, however, the Slash Film report speculates that there is a lot more work to be done especially in squeezing in the elements of the fifth script into three films, in time for the start of production later this year.

In a report in IGN, Cameron indicated that he was confident about the stories he was telling such that he feels he does not need to hurry the process just to keep to his schedule. He said, "there's nothing I need to say as an artist about the state of the world and human affairs that I can't do through the lens of the Avatar universe. We've had a couple of years to think through the story arc of the next three films, and every day that goes by, I believe in the stories I'm telling more and more. We're not coming out of the block fast to capitalize on the last film."
