'Avatar 2' News, Update: Director James Cameron Boasts About the Upcoming Sequels

Without a doubt, James Cameron's "Avatar" (2009) did blow the minds of movie goers and it's no wonder fans want another helping of the said epic fantasy feature. In fact, the gears are already rolling and the director blurted out that the next "Avatar" sequel will be crazy.

The 60-year-old Canadian director is currently in New Zealand working on the scripts for the forthcoming films (Avatar 2 for 2016, Avatar 3 for 2017, and Avatar 4 for 2018), EmpireOnline reported.

During the interview, the "Titanic" helmer revealed to the magazine that the installments are on the process of getting laid out. Helping him in "putting words to action" are writers Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa, Shane Salerno, Amanda Silver and others.

"I think we met for seven months and we whiteboarded out every scene in every film together," Cameron said.

"And I didn't assign each writer which film they were going to work on until the last day. I knew if I assigned them their scripts ahead of time, they'd tune out every time we were talking about the other movie," he explained.

When asked what fans could expect in the forthcoming titles, the "True Lies" director answered confidently.

"I can tell you one thing about them," he said. "They're gonna be b-------. You will s--- yourself with your mouth wide open," he said.

Empire Online went on further to discuss about his initial plan of shooting the films at 60 frames-per-second, but had to change to go along with the 48 FPS trend.

"My thinking at the time was that 60 [FPS] might be a better segue to the video market," he said. "I'll be plugging into a system that's a little more mature, so it makes sense for me to do 48 frames at this point."

Still a world-record holder, "Avatar" is the top-grossing film of all time. It earned close to $3 billion dollars in ticket sales worldwide. Cameron's earlier film "Titanic" held the second-highest grossing movie trophy.
