A whole slew of actors have already been confirmed for "Avengers: Infinity War," the third "Avengers" film that boasts a star-studded ensemble. However, Samuel L. Jackson recently revealed that he does not know if he will be in the sequel.
Jackson, who plays Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, sat down with Collider while promoting the film "Kong: Skull Island," which coincidentally also stars two other Marvel stars--Tom Hiddleston, who plays Loki, and Brie Larson, who is set to play Captain Marvel in "Infinity War."
When told that Nick Fury is set to appear in the third "Avengers" film, Jackson reacted with surprise. "I don't know," he admitted. "I haven't heard that. I keep asking, "Am I in 'Infinity War'?"
He further revealed that he has not been informed of a shooting date. However, it should be noted that Nick Fury is a very important character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After all, he was responsible for assembling the team of superheroes.
"Avengers: Infinity War" and a fourth untitled "Avengers" film are both a part of Marvel's Phase Three plans. It is also expected that the end of Phase Three will signify a change in the MCU, which includes the exit of one or more key characters. Chris Evans' Captain America is believed to be one of them.
There has been talk of Evans hanging up his shield once and for all after the upcoming "Avengers" films. According to Esquire, Evans' contract will be up after that, which means he will not be obligated to appear in any more Marvel movies. But aside from a contractual standpoint, Evans is also interested in taking up other film endeavors like directing and portraying characters different from Steve Rogers.
"Avengers: Infinity War" has already begun production in Atlanta. The film is poised to hit U.S. theaters on May 4, 2018.
