'Avengers: Infinity War' News, Spoilers: Some Characters May Not Make It Out Of 'Infinity War,' Russos Tease

"Captain America: Civil War" is undoubtedly the biggest spectacle to occur in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date, and yet the conflict in that film only sets up Marvel's two-part magnum opus, "Avengers: Infinity War," which is sure to be an even bigger event.

Should all the Avengers make it out of "Civil War" alive, their number will be made even larger by the addition of characters from the upcoming Marvel films "Doctor Strange," "Thor: Ragnarok," "Spider-Man: Homecoming," and "Black Panther." By the time "Infinity War" rolls in, there could be an indefinite number of superheroes, villains, and other characters in the MCU.

However, according to "Infinity War" directors Joe and Anthony Russo, not everyone alive in the MCU today gets to be in "Infinity War" - and not everyone who is in the films will come out of the two-part Marvel juggernaut alive.

The Russos recently sat down with Hey U Guys to talk about moving the MCU towards "Infinity War" and hinted that the film/s could be deadly for some of the Avengers.

"Look, we are moving into a phase now in the storytelling where, when we bring Captain America's story forward from 'Civil War,' it's going to be into 'Avengers: Infinity War,'" Anthony said. "That's the next chapter, so to speak, in his specific story…"

While the "Infinity War" directors, who also helmed "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" (2014) and this year's "Civil War," admitted that they still don't know where the story goes beyond "Infinity War," the two films (Part 1 and Part 2) are currently slated to be the culmination of the MCU.

"There's going to be storytelling that happens in those films that we haven't seen yet in the MCU, so who's to say what the condition of the characters are at that point?" Anthony added. "Who even makes it to that movie to begin with, but who makes it out of those movies is anybody's guess at this point."

"Avengers: Infinity War - Part 1" hits theaters May 4, 2018 while "Avengers: Infinity War - Part II" drops May 3, 2019.

"Captain America: Civil War" is out May 6 and is already receiving critical acclaim.
