'Avengers: Infinity War' Plot Spoilers: Screenwriter Teases Thanos' Intentions
The whole Marvel Cinematic Universe has spent almost a decade - spanning several films - teasing the villainous Thanos. Despite all of the films and appearances of the Titan, though, not a lot is known about him, including his intentions. However, co-screenwriter Stephen McFeely recently talked about Thanos' ultimate scheme, albeit vaguely.
McFeely, who wrote the screenplay of "Avengers: Infinity War" with Christopher Markus, spoke about Thanos' arc in a featurette included in the recently released "Doctor Strange" Blu-ray.
"His goal is to re-balance the universe as he sees it," McFeely teased, according to ScreenRant. "So when he figures out that the Infinity Stones could do this for him at the snap of a finger, that becomes his main goal."

The media outlet posits that McFeely may have chosen his words carefully so as not to spoil anything about the plot of the upcoming film. In the original comic books, Thanos' main motivation in acquiring all the Infinity Stones is so that he could use them, along with the Infinity Gauntlet, to take as many souls as possible in order to please Lady Death, an actual character with whom he is in love with. It remains to be seen if "Avengers: Infinity War" will take the same route, but fans are undoubtedly excited to see Thanos execute his master plan.
And the mighty Titan may have nothing stopping him should the Avengers not unite. It can be recalled that the team of superheroes was last seen divided in "Captain America: Civil War," and this was no accident, according to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. In an in-production video released by Marvel, Feige talks about the decision to enact "Civil War" first before "Infinity War," saying that the Avengers needed to be in disarray as this looming threat arrives.
Feige also talked about how big a milestone "Infinity War" is - not just for Marvel, but for films in general. "It really is an unprecedented culmination of a series of films interlinked together, which, at the time, had never been done before," Fiege said. "And, for us, the important thing is making it all come together."
"Avengers: Infinity War" will premiere on May 4, 2018.
