1. MacBook or iMac

Sometimes, the best prices for an Apple device are not found at an Apple store. For $150 dollars knocked off its regular price, you can already get your hands on any Apple MacBook or iMac, which Best Buy marks at competitive prices—from a 13.3" Apple MacBook Air pegged at $899 to a 27" iMac at $2,112.

Most of the deals come with a free six-month subscription to Kaspersky Internet Security for three devices. At Best Buy, you only have to sign up for their College Promotional Deals to avail of the discounts.

2. Surface Computers

While Amazon does not have a special deals promo for college students, rest assured that their prices are just as low as its counterparts. Surface laptops such as HP with QuadCore processors, for example, are priced well below $500. Best Buy markdowns on similar computers such as Dell are set a little higher, but with their College Promotional Code deal, you can easily get it $150 lower.

3. Newegg deals

Newegg is a great source for discounts and promos, not just for new, but also for refurbished laptops. And they don't just cover laptops; they also offer great markdown prices for other devices, such as external hard drives, earphones, and free shipping. They also have consumer outlets for retailers such as Microsoft and Dell. You may also refer to their Editors' Choice to make more intelligent decisions on your purchases.

4. Trade in your old laptops

Don't want to stash your old Dell laptop away? No worries. Microsoft is currently offering a minimum $200 trade up reward for a qualifying Dell laptop in their stores. This allows students to get a new Dell purchase priced at $599, and as much as $200 and $500 for trade up rewards for laptops and MacBooks, respectively.

Best Buy is also currently offering a similar promo, and you can even get a $150 gift card when you trade in an iPad!
