'Bad Boys for Life' Release Date, News: Did Will Smith Accept 'Dumbo' Role and Push Back 'Bad Boys?'

Everyone is excited to see Will Smith and Martin Lawrence finally working together again in "Bad Boys 3," which has been given the title "Bad Boys for Life." Unfortunately though, it looks like avid fans will have to wait longer as the film's release has been pushed back.

According to box-office authority Exhibitor Relations, the film has been moved to a holiday release, specifically on Nov. 9, 2018 instead of the originally planned Jan. 12, 2018. What's even worse is that this has placed "Bad Boys 4" in limbo, with a rather uncertain fate.

No reason was specified as to why the sudden move, although Exhibitor Relations enumerated three possible reasons — stars, script and catering. When looking at the situation, the first speculation that comes to mind would be that it has something to do with the script, which Lawrence explained was one of the concerns when they thought of creating the third installment. In light of recent events, however, it appears that may not be the case.

Last month, Variety reported that Will Smith might play a role in the live adaptation of Disney's "Dumbo." If he accepts, there's a conflict with "Bad Boys for Life" as both will be shooting at the same time, causing the latter to be either postponed or worse, scrapped. It rings a bell given the postponement.

How likely is Smith to accept Disney's offer? If one bases it from box office numbers, there is a high likelihood that he might have. According to The Numbers, "Bad Boys 2" amassed a total of $273,271,982 worldwide with a $130 million budget. That greatly pales to Disney's "Maleficent," which raked a whopping $758,536,735 with a $180 million production budget.

There are no official reports yet as to what truly caused the move, but for now fans will have to stay put and wait 10 months more.
